Galena Creek Trail
This spectacular and shorter hike begins in the neighborhood of Callan Ranch off of Mt Rose Hwy and makes its way all the way to Galena Forest Estates. The trail is very shady, so it’s perfect for a summer day or evening. It follows the Galena Creek the whole way with multiple bridges. This trail also goes through the golf course community Montreux, so you may even see some golfers out on one of the most beautiful courses in Northern Nevada!
Timberline Trail
This trail is located in South Reno off of Mt Rose Hwy. It has a couple trail heads, each one with a unique vibe. You can either walk along the creek, in the woods or up high overlooking the creek. These are all beginner hikes and can be enjoyed by family, friends and furry friends.
Hidden Valley Trail
Located above the Hidden Valley neighborhood, these canyon hikes are best enjoyed on a cooler summer day or evening. Watch out for rattlesnakes, tis the season! Any one of the hikes this place has to offer gives you a beautiful, panoramic view of Reno. Bring lots of water and sun protection since this hike excursion has little to no shade.
Browns Creek Trail
This trailhead can be accessed in the neighborhood of Galena Forest. Once you make it to the top, you’ll find yourself looking at the gorgeous Washoe lake. Beautiful wildflowers, daunting pines and views of the mountains is what you can expect from this hike. Since some areas can be steep, this is a more moderate hike.
