Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival 2019: July 5th - Aug. 25
Any Reno/Tahoe local will know that the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare festival is one of the best ways to spend a night in the summer. With your toes in the sand, amazing theatrical performances, and the beautiful Lake Tahoe as a back drop to it all— The Shakespeare festival is not something to be missed. Two shows will be offered this season as back by popular demand:
The Taming of the Shrew – The only thing that stands between Bianca and a bevy of eligible suitors is her quick-tempered, elder sister Katherina. That is until fortune-hunting Petruchio takes up the challenge to “tame” Kate and make her his wife. A madcap marriage and much mayhem ensues in a beguiling battle of wits and wills between the sexes which ultimately reveals an unlikely romance. Can love tame a shrewish heart and surprise an unbridled bachelor?
Million Dollar Quartet – On December 4, 1956, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley fatefully found themselves together in a Memphis recording studio. The historic rock ‘n’ roll jam session that resulted was electrifying. Step back in time to experience this irresistible tale of broken promises, secrets and celebrations – which boasts powerhouse performances and an incredible score of rock ‘n’ roll, R&B and country hits, including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “Walk the Line,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” “Hound Dog” and more.
Dining and Drinks
The LTSF entertainment experience is complemented by al fresco dining at its on-site restaurant – Shakespeare’s Kitchen, which offers a wide variety of food and beverage options. However, you may choose to bring your own food or drink for picnicking. The main gate and amphitheater opens at 5:30 p.m. allowing early access to the concession area which includes Shakespeare’s Kitchen, The Bar and BardWare (merchandise souvenirs). Arrive early and enjoy a pre-show cocktail, mingle with family and friends in the newly renovated and expanded dining area, marvel at the awesome views of Lake Tahoe or simply bask in the afternoon sunshine.
